Q: How is our food prepared?
A: All meals are prepared fresh every day in our main central kitchen by nine skilled and trained cooks. Every item prepared has a detailed recipe and cooking procedure to maintain freshness and nutritional value of all menu items.
Q: Who provides the food?
A: Our Dining Services Department selects only the very best food providers. Our department receives deliveries from over six different vendors, six days a week to ensure that produce, bread, dairy products and other food items are the freshest and most wholesome available.
Q: What if I have a special diet or the doctor suggested I avoid certain foods?
A: Doctor’s orders and personal likes and dislikes are documented for residents at our skilled nursing locations and followed as requested based on the documented need. Special blended diets are also prepared as needed. Independent living, assisted living and Vogel center have open option dining where residents can select what food items best fit their dietary needs. Pamphlets and handouts providing information about special diets are always available from the Dining Services Department.
Q: How often is the menu cycle changed?
A: The Dining Services Department prides itself on rotating four seasonal menus which change every three months to ensure a level of variety is maintained and menu items are fitting to the season. Changes are made to the menu based on likes and dislikes and suggestions to the menu. Comments and suggestion are always welcome. On the last Wednesday of the month, we provide a special lunch menu developed from suggestions and requests from all levels of care.
Q: Is a tour of the kitchen available?
A: Yes, special arrangements can be made with Michael Francis, Director of Dining Services, for a tour of the kitchen. Currently, our kitchen receives no less than five sanitation inspections a year. All staff are specially trained in correct food handling procedures, and therefore strict guidelines and health regulations are imposed to ensure the safety of anyone touring the kitchen.
Q: What type of meal service can I expect?
A: We offer different meal services based on the level of care. Independent living residents have a buffet style dining with open seating, assisted living residents have country style dining, while our skilled nursing residents are served meals at their table. Each dining area has its own serving line and kitchenette so minor changes or requests can be easily accommodated.
Q: How do I pay for my meals and how are guests accommodated?
A: Manor Park is proud to offer the ease and convenience of its own Point of Service system. Every resident is given a key tag for an “in-house” charge account. Hair care services, items from The Village Pantry and meals can be charged directly to the monthly bill using this system. A resident may opt to pay for a guest’s meal by charging their meal using the “in-house” charge system, or the guest can purchase a guest meal ticket from any of the receptionists during normal business hours.
